about aspen house

Aspen House front viewWe fell under the spell of Aspen House in 2002.  Since that time, we have lavished much care and attention on the house, the rooms and the garden, to ensure Aspen House became the tranquil haven that it is today.  With a passion for real food, we went to great lengths to source the very best of local produce.  Our aim was to create a guest house that we would be happy to stay in ourselves.  Today, imbued as it is with our passion for real food, Aspen House is seen by many as a ‘food destination’

“We discovered Aspen House by chance – what luck!”

The dining room is small, cosy and intimate and seats 6-8 comfortably. We feel it works best for a group of friends or family - so why not experience the ultimate in dining out by dining in at Aspen House. You can relax in the knowledge that no one has to drive home; you can stay in our well appointed and highly comfortable rooms and enjoy an outstanding breakfast the next morning.

“A wonderful retreat, with fine food and attentive hosts.”

a quiet area of the Aspen House gardenAt Aspen House, we do not seek awards, nor do we look for ‘labels’.  We believe we are only as good as our last dinner, or breakfast, and therefore we prefer to be judged by you.  But rest assured that our attention to detail ensures that we maintain high standards and we are always looking at what we do with a critical eye.  If we think we can do something better, we will.

As to the house itself, the next couple of pages will give you more details on the rooms, as well as more information about Stable Cottage.  But don’t take our word for it – try the Aspen House experience for yourselves.

One last word – for the comfort of all our guests, both Aspen House and Stable Cottage are smoke-free zones.

steps from the lavender garden at Aspen HouseWe care about the environment, the countryside and rural welfare.  As a consequence we have gone to great lengths to ensure that we minimise our carbon footprint, using energy saving light bulbs, composting, recycling and using only environmentally and ecologically sound cleaning products.  We source and buy local, seasonal organic and fair trade products, and our garden is recognised as a sanctuary for wildlife.
