At Aspen House, we take our food seriously. Food is the axis on which Aspen House spins. But for us it must be real food, and ‘real’ means pure, unadulterated and nutritious.
“You don’t just get real food – it’s an education!”
Sally and Rob come from a background of traditional values in which food was prepared from scratch using the best of fresh ingredients and then served up as a meal for family or friends to enjoy. Food brought people together around the table. It was eaten at a leisurely pace and in an atmosphere of contentment

In society’s relentless pursuit of a faster lifestyle, however, so much of this has been lost. But not here. At Aspen House, food is the pleasure it should be. We feel so strongly about it that we have even joined the international Slow Food movement in support of those who promote a real alternative to our fast food lifestyle.
“Everything I wanted for my birthday, and more – the dinners were superb!”
We talk about ‘real food’ because we are alarmed at the way in which big business has destabilised and adulterated our food over the last 50 years. It has reached the stage where many people are in fear of what they eat, not without good reason. Most of the nation’s food is now supplied through supermarkets, and most of it, including much of that which is labelled ‘organic’, is of inferior quality. Not so at Aspen House.
Here all the ingredients we use are the best we can find. We go to a lot of trouble to bring you the best (read The Egg Story if you want to know just how much trouble we go to). Our cooking is influenced by the Polish cuisine handed down from Rob’s mum, so be prepared for something tasty! But it’s not all Polish – have a look at our slow food page for some other ideas. Then book yourselves in with friends or family for a real foodie treat and a private dining experience you will not forget.
