CELEBRATION OF REAL FOOD AT BROADFIELD COURT - A GREAT SUCCESS
Our very first Celebration of Real Food, on
Saturday 10th
July 2010, co-hosted with Alex James of Broadfield Court, exceeded our expectations.
Although much thought and preparation had gone into this event, there is
always uncertainty when venturing into unknown territory. Yet, on the day, feedback was very positive.
The weather, of course, was perfect, and
for that we are grateful. The bonus for
us was the excellent turnout. There were
so many other events taking place in the county on the Saturday that we thought
no one would bother to attend an event that was the first of its kind. We were wrong. Not only did people turn up, but they were
impressed with what they saw.
Parking their cars at the top of the
driveway and walking down to the Court, visitors were treated to a series of
pithy quotations about food, attached to stakes at regular intervals along the
drive. Once at the venue, each person
was given a programme setting out not only a list of stallholders but also the
ethos behind this celebratory day.
With more foodie quotations decorating the
walls of the marquee, visitors soon entered the spirit of the day. The aim was to suggest that these wonderful
local producers are not simply selling us some special culinary treats that we
cannot buy elsewhere, but in fact represent our future food security in this
county, producing as they do all of the essential foodstuffs we need to keep
ourselves nourished and healthy.
From raw milk and home baked sourdough
bread to local cheeses and the best of pasture-fed meat, this truly was a
celebration. Stallholders and visitors
alike were impressed with the intimate nature of the venue, and Broadfield Court, using in its café the produce from its own walled kitchen garden
and vineyard, was the ideal location to promote a localised way of eating. Such was the success of the day that this
event, rather than being a tentative one-off, is now the first of what we
anticipate will be an annual event.
SPECIAL
DAYS
One thing we love to do is to take care
of a family party – birthdays, anniversaries
or just simple family get-togethers. We
can take all the hassle off your hands and
(in terms of food at least) ‘customise’
the event to suit you. |
THEMED FOOD
For bookings of 6-8, please feel free to talk to us about the cuisine
options available. For instance, you may want to sample something
from our Indian menu (to see how it compares with your local balti
house?). Just call us. We can discuss the options and take it from
there. |
GIFT
VOUCHERS
Perhaps you know someone who would really
enjoy the Aspen House experience. One of
our gift vouchers might give them just the
incentive they need! Our vouchers are available
at various prices, from £10 upwards. |
